AmeriCorps at Maplehill

Overview: Our AmeriCorps Member is an integral part of the Maplehill School and Farm. The member supports a wide array of programming including Community Outreach, Harvest of the Month, daily electives (ie: art and collaborative games), food service, and the Maplehill School Farm and Garden. They collaborate with the Farm Educator and the Farm to Table Coordinator to support the Maplehill School and Farm Community. Lunch is provided for members throughout the school year. Members must have access to a reliable personal vehicle and clean driving record.

Hours: 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday, 8:00-4:00. Variable schedule with extended day events. School closures for holidays are observed.

 

Farm to School Member Role


Support Farm to School activities:
including assisting youth in learning about & completing farm chores, shopping for and serving meals, supporting community events, building partnerships with local organizations and leading weekly Harvest of the Month cooking demonstrations.

Support Maplehill School Healthy Food Program: which provides healthy, locally grown food to our students and staff year-round, including collaborating with the Farm to Table Coordinator to plan and cook lunch as well as collaborating with the Farm Educator to tend to the farm and garden.

Support general programming at Maplehill School:
including but not limited to attending field trips, mentoring/tutoring students, participating in and leading elective and vocational training and PE activities.

Collaborate with the Community Service AmeriCorps member

Community Service Member Role


Support Community service activities:
including coordinating Community Outreach programming, monthly food drops, community events, building partnerships with local organizations and providing on campus community service opportunites for youth.

Support Maplehill School Healthy Food Program:
which provides healthy, locally grown food to our students and staff year-round, including collaborating with the Farm to Table Coordinator to plan and cook lunch as well as collaborating with the Farm Educator to tend to the farm and garden.

Support general programming at Maplehill School:
including but not limited to attending field trips, mentoring/tutoring students, participating in and leading elective and vocational training and PE activities.

Collaborate with the Farm to School AmeriCorps member.
